The six sigma master certificate most commonly refers to six sigma coursework that covers both green belt principles as well as mastery leadership skills found in the black belt level. Green belt curriculum is primarily focused on six sigma fundamentals, teaching professionals how to properly manage project scope and execution, and how to perform as a cohesive unit. Black belt certification takes these fundamentals and builds upon them, creating leaders with highly developed organization skills.
Black belts graduate the six sigma master program prepared to become managers of projects, people, and entire departments. Some students will use this combined master certificate to continue their six sigma education, going on to seek master black belt certification, which they use to teach others the organized business approach. In engineering, project management is crucial to maintain client deadlines and profitability. Six sigma certificate masters in this field could use their skills to help a firm meet production goals, or even re-organize its project management style. Information technology is another field that relies heavily on project managers and another that might utilize the specialties taught to six sigma masters. Manufacturing can also be thrown in the mix, where project managers, production specialists, and even human resources managers can put skills taught in six sigma programs to very good use.
