While many people may think that the study of physics is only for geniuses, nothing could be further from the truth. The study of physics involves questions concerning how and why things work at all levels, from nanoparticles to supernovas. People who are curious about the physical world and universe, interested in contributing to scientific knowledge,and who want to help solve many of the problems facing mankind may want to think about pursuing a bachelor’s degree in physics. A bachelor’s degree in physics will prepare students for three general courses after graduation: in entry-level jobs involving physics in government and private industry, teaching physics at the secondary school level after completion of the necessary teaching credentials, and as a prerequisite to graduate study. A bachelor’s degree in physics will be a demanding course of study, with a heavy load of mathematics and science classes, including research and laboratory work.Students will become familiar with the computer technology that is necessary in the field to conduct research and various physics simulations. Students will also learn about the application of physics in the real world and in real industries such as health care, the military, computer programming, and environmental concerns such as energy conservation and creation.
