Overview
The Stonecliffe Associate of Science in Medical Billing and Coding (ASMBC) degree program provides students with the foundation to work in entry-level positions in health care organizations-and does so entirely online. The ASMBC degree also gets you set to continue study, if you wish, allowing you to earn an advanced degree in the field, and subsequently to obtain a higher professional position in the field.
Within the ASMBC program, the general education component focuses on classifying and coding diagnosis and procedures.
As a student who successfully completes the ASMBC degree program, you will:
•Gain entry to mid-level professional opportunities in the areas of
health care information processing, retention, storage and retrieval
•Have a sophisticated understanding of the information technology
systems used in the collection, interpretation, analysis and retrieval
of patient information, as well as financial, medical and administrative data
•Be skilled in the classifying and coding of diagnosis procedures and
protocols that are universal to the health industry
•Possess the complex abilities required in the transference of patient medical
records to insurance claims and billing for services provided
•Have the cultural, professional, and communications skills that will allow
you to perform successfully within your chosen medical field.
The foundations of Billing and Coding are laid through courses that focus primarily on coding, medical terminology, disease processes, health care organizations, and management. As a Stonecliffe ASMBC graduate, you'll have gained the knowledge and skills to immediately add value and be productive in public and private health care organizations.
