This course is designed to give students an introduction to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Participants will learn more about how a civil lawsuit is commenced and will locate and read the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure as well as the individual’s state’s Rules of Civil Procedure.

By the end of this course, students will be able to identify and define the following key terms: complaint, answer, third-party complaint, cross-claim, counterclaim, intervention, motion, legal process, summons and service of process.
