In this course, students will discuss the court system and the procedures for bringing or defending a lawsuit. It is very important that a paralegal knows everything about the court system and how it works, because things can get very complicated when it comes to dealing with both the federal and state court systems.

Each of the systems has jurisdiction requirements to hear different types of lawsuits. The court cannot make rulings in a lawsuit if it does not have jurisdiction over a case or over the parties to the case.
