Floral Design

The art of floral design is ancient and involves the knowledge of many traditional techniques, a good aesthetic sense, and a knowledge of plants and botany. Flowers have long been recognized for their potential to bestow pleasant emotions among those that view them. A certification in floral design will allow the students to learn the craft and to bring joy into people’s lives through the beauty of flowers. Among the traditional techniques that students may be taught is Ikebana, a traditional Japanese school of thought in the art of floral design and arrangement. The certification will instill good design principles as they apply to flowers, including appreciation of form and nature. Knowledge of many species of flowers, plants, and their care must be learned by anyone wishing to become an effective floral designer. Factors like temperature and humidity can affect the appearance and health of flowers, and must be taken into account when designing any arrangement.

Those with certifications in floral design will be well positioned for a number of jobs such as a florist for a grocery store or department store, botanical gardens, or internet companies that sell flowers or flower design services. The profession is also commonly entered into by entrepreneurs, so starting a flower shop or flower design business is always a good option with the certification.
