A major problem facing American businesses in this advanced and technological age is the threat of internal theft – or threats against a company from within its own walls. It is estimated that companies lose somewhere between six and ten percent of their profits to employees who are dishonest and/or stealing from their company's own cookie jar every year. In this course, you will learn how to identify and recognize dishonest employees and how to go through the right legal channels to make sure they are prosecuted accordingly. You will also learn proper pre-employment screening methods – what is legal and illegal – so you can ensure to the best of your ability that your company is a safe and theft-free work environment.
You will also learn about personnel polices, such as the American With Disabilities Act, which covers personnel policies, hiring practices and regulations that impact yourself and the companies you are working to protect. In order to avoid lawsuits, it is critical to understand the limitations placed on pre-employment screening by laws such as the Disabilities Act as well as the Employee Polygraph Protection Act among others.
