Certificate in Medical Coding

Upon completion of the Medical Coding Certificate Program at Fisher College, you will have a medical knowledge base and specialized, marketable coding skills to provide you with the competitive edge needed in today's fast-paced health care industry. With work experience you can expect great pay and benefits and often times a flexible work schedule as an additional "perk." Graduates will be eligible to take the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Exam administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) to earn CCA (entry-level coder) credentials. Fisher College's Medical Coding Certificate Program requires a commitment to quality work and consistent completion of assignments. Of note, students need to earn a grade of "C" or better in all core courses within the curriculum, including Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology, Study of Disease, Medical Terminology, and Basic and Advanced ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 Coding. Students will need to retake any of these courses for which they earn less than a C. Also, successful completion of an 30-hour professional practice coding internship is required to graduate.
