A Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion is an exciting four-year degree program in which students learn how to generate design ideas that are clearly related to the chosen concept, select design ideas that are relevant to the market and customers using market research, produce innovative and original designs through use of a sketchbook, perform design research, and relate silhouettes to the design concept. Students will be educated in how to produce croquis to indicate fabric and color, advance their concepts by using on target research, create designs that can be transformed from 2D to 3D, and will self-edit designs. Students pursing their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion degrees will employ creative problem solving within the field of fashion art and design as well as utilize focused problem solving abilities. Students will use technology to help them achieve their design goals and synthesize aesthetic and conceptual knowledge. Critical to this degree track is clear, professional communication of artistic designs and ideas whether orally, written, or in a presentational format. Students will evaluate their own work and engage in many hands-on projects that will foster better understanding of design and art precepts. Students will be well prepared for various employment options upon graduation in areas such as accessory design, marketing, curatorial work, merchandising, fashion, or costume design.
