The analysis of procedures in business, like the development of a product from initial conception to launch, is part of operations management. A specialization in operations management from within a bachelor of business administration allows students to learn both important business principles and study the intricacies involved in transforming ideas to products. Operations management also involves learning, understanding, and applying new technological principles or ideas into innovative business models for future growth. Students can expect an education that bestows many basic business principles including leadership, accounting, finance, and business law while also learning the finer principles that guide operational management locally and throughout the world.
Graduates of the program will be prepared to take up many business careers that center around managing projects and processes. Operational managers are trained to understand products and product development and could therefore be assets within facilities that have a strong product focus. Likewise, careers in inventory or purchasing make a great deal of sense for graduates of the program. Graduates will also have been taught the importance of overseeing the details of business processes and operations, which lend themselves well to analyst positions that look for methods to improve on current procedures. Quality assurance positions are therefore also great career options with the degree.
