Very similar to getting a liberal arts degree or a general studies degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities tends to give graduates a broad overview of humanities-related subject matter. The humanities focus on the cultural, social and psychological aspects of humanity or the human condition. These include psychology, sociology and anthropology and are often also referred to as social sciences. Students who are unsure of what career they would like to pursue might be interested in getting this degree because it could be described as a “buffet” of knowledge. The Bachelor of Arts in Humanities is a four-year degree, although many people can complete this degree in three years if they go to school also during the summer. On the other hand, there is an increasing number of students who complete a bachelors in five or six years. It all depends on the course-load on which you decide. Some colleges offering the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities degree may also allow students to focus on a particular emphasis area within the humanities, such as Civilization or Literature.
