The business world of the future is going to become increasingly technology and computer-driven. By concentrating in computer information systems within a bachelor of business administration, students will learn in-depth computer skills and how to apply them to business practices. Students will be taught the way in which information is intertwined with much of what we do in the world and what technology we use to store and make sense of that information. A strong background in computer programming and software design principles will be imparted to students, ensuring that they have the ability to understand and analyze computer programs. Knowledge of databases, data storage models, and networking will also be required to perform successfully. Finally, shaky knowledge is a liability to businesses, so students will learn the proper security principles for safeguarding information.
For graduates of the computer information systems in business administration program, there are many opportunities to work for businesses utilizing technology. Having received training in software development, graduates may consider careers as programmers or application developers. An understanding of databases and security leads well into careers that deal mostly with information storage, such as database administration. And as an all-around networking and computer technology expert, graduates would do well to consider opportunities as a network or systems administrator.
