Bachelor of Art in Social Science-Communications

A bachelor of art in social science with a concentration in communications is an exciting four year degree program that provides a foundation in social science fields such as history and sociology. Students will look at cultural and social diversity, analyze the relationship between social science and service, investigate various research ideologies, and engage with numerous social science fields. Students who are obtaining their bachelor of art in social science with a concentration in communications degree will exercise critical thinking and develop enhanced problem solving abilities in group and individual arenas. Teamwork is emphasized along with applying learned methodological frameworks. Participation in hands-on projects is required and this interaction will encourage students to design, evaluate, and manage professional communication campaigns along with devising briefs to present to researchers, communication designers, and other professionals within the communications field. Students must have strong communication skills orally, written, and electronically as communication in this major encompasses all three aspects. Upon graduation, students will be trained to enter professions that will incorporate their social science backgrounds. Students who acquire their bachelor of art in social science with a concentration in communications degrees will be able to pursue upper level work after graduation whether through master’s or PhD degree programs.
