Within the organizational management program, students may choose to specialize in retail management. A degree specialization in retail management will provide both the business expertise in matters such as finance, accounting, and leadership, but also retail specific training in issues that pertain to the retail business sector. There are specific marketing, advertising, and operational issues within the retail sector, and students will learn to navigate the hurdles successfully. Students can also hope to learn about issues like stocking, merchandising, brand building, price management, e-commerce, and the economics of the retail sector. Learning how to deal with customers is also an important trait that students of the program will learn.
As an expert in organization, business, and retail-specific knowledge, recipients of the degree will be ideal candidates for retail management, overseeing the smooth operation of a store either online or brick and mortar, that sells goods directly to consumers. Understanding in-depth qualities pertaining to business and retail will also qualify graduates to work as business analysts or consultants, either for large corporations, or as a private, contract practice. Additionally, since the necessary skill for completion of the degree is understanding and dealing with customer desires and hurdles, a career in a public-facing occupation such as customer service or public relations also make good choices.
