Associates of Art and Science-Health Information Technology

The health care field has a need for experts in Health Information Technology to accurately document patients’ medical histories—such as illnesses, observations, surgeries, and treatment outcomes—to ensure proper treatment and care. Health Information Technologists may keep patient records for hospitals, outpatient centers, nursing homes, public health departments, or insurance companies. Northwestern College’s online associate’s degree in Health Information Technology prepares students to enter this growing field with courses on medical coding, terminology, and insurance and billing practices. Northwestern College’s AAS in HIT is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
