Paraprofessionals in education are much like paraprofessionals in other fields, they assist primary professionals with techniques learned through a technically-versed education program. The primary professional might be a doctor, a lawyer, an accountant, or in this case, an educator. Because an educator can only do so much as a single person serving an often large number of students, educated assistance plays a crucial role. While teachers are ultimately in charge of the classroom, teachers’ aides and assistants are often responsible for sections or subjects throughout the school day, allowing the primary teacher to take a break or work on projects, grade papers, or attend to other classroom needs.

A.A. students with a focus in paraprofessional education are taught the structural concepts of a classroom, including how to effectively manage students and time. This foundation may be put to use by those seeking a bachelor degree, and those wishing to start their careers as teaching aides or assistants. Public and private schools both utilize teaching aides to help educate their younger classrooms. Grade levels for most teachers’ aides run from kindergarten through grade eight, although some might find options in high school settings.
