Associate of Arts in Accounting

An Associate of Applied Science in Accounting stresses strong leadership skills and abilities as well as adept problem solving. This degree usually takes two years to complete and is geared for students who are intrigued by mathematics, business organization, and attention to details. Students will learn how to communicate effectively and professionally when writing as well as speaking. Additionally, students will study numerous topics within the business and accounting fields such as finances, cost accounting principles, auditing, taxation, competencies in non-profit accounting, management, applying and preparing accounting standards for presentations, and estimating the value of liabilities and equities. An Associate of Applied Science in Accounting sharpens critical thinking and problem solving abilities while educating students in useful knowledge that they can employ upon graduating with their degrees. Students can choose whether they want to continue their educations and obtain their bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees. Additionally, students may select from entry level business positions like Payroll Administrator, Audit Assistant, Junior Staff Accountant, or Financial Data Analyst and they can enter industries of their choice. Students may work on their own business projects that utilize accounting theories and business ideologies. An Associate of Applied Science in Accounting requires the use of technology like computers and appropriate software in order for students to best learn the skills they need to understand and work within the business sector.
