Many people who are seeking a business degree aren’t exactly sure what industry or business they will eventually end up in. Students who already have a certain idea of the industry they are seeking employment in may want to pursue a bachelor’s of applied business degree. An applied business degree is different than a general business degree, because it has a focused core of courses that are relevant to a specific industry. Today, there are bachelor of applied business degrees in many industries, from hospitality management, to e-commerce, golf course management, global business management and more. While each program addresses issues and subjects that pertain to a regular business degree, like business law, accounting, and management, bachelor of applied business degree programs offer courses that are geared to meet the specific needs of a particular field of business or industry. Many programs also offer opportunities for experience and professional development with internships in the industry. Students may also become familiar with technologies and computer applications that are created especially for the needs of the particular business or industry. Most programs can be completed in four years, but some can be completed in a shorter period of time with full-time and year-round course work.
