The foundations and prospects of business are understood through accounting, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting information management will train students in its use. Additionally, the information component requires the understanding of standard computer tools of the trade for doing business, keeping track of records, and aiding in good accountancy principles. The degree will prepare students to obtain a Certified Management Accounting (CMA) license as well as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. With a degree in accounting information management, graduates will be prepared to take on careers in the accounting industry once they have obtained their CPA license, or as an accounting manager once they have obtained their CMA license. The background in information systems and the computer technology of the industry will ensure that students are prepared to work for a wide range of businesses by either providing financial advice, business leadership, or information management as it pertains to accounting. As more and more businesses move to the internet, a degree that teaches the technology of information management is a plus to any accounting or financial professional.
