Associate Degrees in Computer Information Systems

This program was designed for individuals interested in pursuing an exciting career in the information technology industry. The tools taught in this program will prepare students with the general education and technical skills needed for a range of entry-level positions in this field. This includes everything from becoming a software programmer to web development and network administration. Students will learn how to maintain and install computer networks, troubleshoot hardware, manage software problems and databases and develop web pages. They will also choose an emphasis that allows them to concentrate in one specific area -- be it network administration, web development, wireless networking or Java -- and prepare for a career in their focus area.

By the end of this program, students will be able to communicate and apply core information technologies in information technology professions and analyze and offer verbal and written resolutions to technical issues facing the user and organizations.

Graduates will also know how to apply information technology methodology to evaluate, design and implement various systems as well as evaluate trends, practices and products to determine their effectiveness.

Participants will be able to explain the impact of information systems and technology on business processes while demonstrating the importance of professional development and continued education within the information technology field.
