Paralegal and legal assistants help lawyers by investigating facts, researching precedents, and preparing documents.Students focusing on paralegal studies will research different career options, but they will also learn about ethics, professional conduct, sources of law as well as the methods of dispute resolution. Students will examine the U.S. court system and learn about the different legal documents they will encounter as a paralegal.
Students will be able to identify the role, responsibilities, skills, duties and career opportunities of the paralegal professional. Participants will also be aware of the ethical issues they might encounter as a paralegal and be able to describe the organization of the U.S. court system. They will also be able to identify sources of law and different types of legal documents.
