This course gives students an overview of both the criminal court system and the civil court system. The class will discuss in detail the role of the judge, the prosecution, the expert witness, the defense and the jury.
Participants will learn how to dress appropriately for court and how to testify effectively. Other topics covered include depositions, pretrial discovery interviews, post-conviction release hearings and sentencing hearings. Students will also prepare their own curriculum vitae to use in a court case. By the end of this course, students will have a better understanding of the different court systems and know how to be an expert witness.
