This course focuses on maximizing the impact and effectiveness of web pages using advanced HTML code and other web programming tools and languages. Topics covered include developing and integrating complex tables, frames, style sheets and forms and the use of DHTML, XHTML and XML.Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of XHTML, which was created to take advantage of newer and faster browser technologies. XHTML is very similar to HTML -- the most noticeable difference is that XHTML requires strict adherence to syntax.Tables and lists are ways of presenting and organizing an individual’s website content. Forms are used on websites to obtain information from the user and can be used to order merchandise, get on a mailing list or obtain further information from the company whose website they are searching. They are also used to gather account information, order information or preferences. When information is submitted using forms, it is automatically sent to another page, database or email address for processing. Tables, on the other hand, are formatting tools that are used in web design to organize content and are helpful when using numerical data or columnar data. Style sheets should be an integral part of an individual’s web design. Style sheets describe the layout and appearance of a document and webpage. This course will review the use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) when designing websites. Consistency is important for all pages in a website. Elements of style sheets can include a background, navigational bar placement, font size, styles and colors and Cascading Style Sheets save time in creating new pages as the page formatting information is separated from the page content. By using a Cascading Style Sheet, all pages have a consistent format.
