This course goes into detail about the different resources available for remaining up-to-date on the medical and psychological consequences of spinal cord injuries, amputations and burns. Students will focus most of their attention on the long-term consequences of these particular disabilities and how age affects a disability over time. Special attention will be paid to patients with ventilator-dependent spinal cord injuries as well as those with severe burns. Students will also be asked to focus on patients in a constant vegetative state and others who need some sort of ventilation support system.
