Advanced Animation Courses

This is an advanced course where students plan and construct a substantial animated project of original design. Emphasis is placed on the principles of animation and an overview of how Flash® animation fits into website architecture. Students will create an animated tour of a commercial nature for a town, region or large facility, which includes student-designed graphics, audio and animations as part of completion of this course.

In this course, participants will begin to create an interactive website that consists of at least five web pages. Planning the site’s architecture is an important task. The architecture consists of the number of pages, the navigational system, how the pages are linked, appropriate animation, color and content.

The planning process is a collaborative process with the stakeholders of the website. It is important to think about the message one wants to convey on the site as well as whom the intended audience is. Once these issues are addressed it is time to create a storyboard which is a basic blueprint for the designer to work off of and refer to during the process.

The web design process is broken down into the following steps: site definition and planning, information architecture, site design, site construction, site marketing, evaluation and maintenance.

Course Objectives

  • By the end of this course, students will have the skills to design animated elements that enhance the intended message of a website and integrate contextually appropriate animated elements into the site.
  • They will plan animations that integrate with website architecture, construct a variety of animations and perform site quality control.
